Dont forget that the sun is INCREDIBLY dense, though not as dense as the first lump of matter, but still incredibly dense.  So dense that probably no drill on earth could ever penetrate it.

All we would need is a nano-drill to get things started.  After it breaches through the first part, it should be smooth sailing, seeing as how it's nothing but molten... "stuff"*.

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

You guys are crazy

As for the molten stuff, well... it's not really molten, It's still hydrogen gas. When you think about it, the sun is a ball of protons as you get towards the center. Why, because the it's too hot to hold electrons

There is no such thing as hydrogen without eletrons.. In fact there is no such thing as an element without them.

However, you say it would be a smooth ride.. How do you know that there isn't some material that is unknown to us on the sun?

Wrong. An element is determined by the number of protons in the nucleus, not electrons in the shell.

lets try this again shall we?  an element is defined as neutral when the number of electrons matches the number of protons, so therefor in order to be a "naturally occuring" element, it must have electrons.  If it is bonded with something it still HAS electrons.  As ozzy said, there is no such thing as an element without electrons.

Protons neutrons and electrons exist in all elements known to man.

A naturally occuring helium ion has no electrons.

would you like me to just tell you to shut the fuck up?

all elements have electrons, without electrons, the element is no longer neutral, it becomes an ion.

Since when are we talking about neutral atoms all of a sudden? We're talknig about the sun, remember? No perfect neutrality there, Einstein.

Every element has at least one electron floating around it.  Hydrogen, for one, has one electron.
