-- $62.98

Mainboard:  http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.a ... 13-135-117  -- $54

Processor:  http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.a ... 19-116-134  --  $142

RAM:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.a ... 20-145-001
-- $32

Video Card:  http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.a ... 025&DEPA=1
-- $120

Case Light: http://directron.com/bubblelight.html --
$20

Case Ribbon:
http://www.xpcases.com/shop/item.asp?CatID=17&Sku=188
AND
http://www.xpcases.com/shop/item.asp?CatID=17&Sku=190
-- $12

Total:  $443-$470

I will go with the integrated sound and use my WD 20 gb and 52x Cd rom drive from another comp temporarily.

Oh, and Im not gonna get the radeon.  GF4 is cheaper.  Unless I can find a Radeon 9500 within $20 range of that price, ill go with the 4200.

looks like a nice comp... and the odds of finding that radeon for that price are actually pretty good compared to what you might be thinking.

Hmm, Radeon 9500 128mb (not pro) for $155.  Not bad, and prices will definately be lower when I get around to buying the card.

I love how you can get so much for so little.  Jeebus, under $500 for a performance PC.

Might want to shop around on those prices for the motherboard, processor, and video card.  Just from browsing pricewatch real quick I saw the ECS board for around 15 bucks cheaper, the processor for 20 bucks cheaper, and the vid card for 10 bucks cheaper.  But always check with the BBB online for the website.

Yeah, alright Ill check that this weekend.  I already do have a pretty damn good price there though.

Funny how when I was checking tigerdirect, I was actually paying more for the processor and mobo.  A guy warned me that tigerdirect screws alot of people over, so if you can, stay away from tigerdirect.

Dont believe me?  Go to google and type in "tigerdirect screwed".

Ok first off, make a wish list and just give us the link, a lot easier.

Screw Intel, AMD all the way, especially if you want Price - Performance ratio.  For that price, you could get an Athlon XP 2500+ Barton core on the 333FSB.

Screw ECS, go with an Nforce2 based bored such as the FIC for 80$.

I'd get Kingston 512 2700 DDR ram for 70$ on there too.

Screw Nvidia, go with the 9500 128 NON-Pro, but make sure it has the L-shaped memory architecture, as that is the crucial point in buying a non-pro.

You can find cheaper cases than that, and go with a good brand-name like Antec power supply for the total price of that case.

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

A guy is gonna refer me to a good AMD compatible mobo w/ athlon XP 2400+.

Also, dual channel RAM, or maybe even 2700.

Like I said, The 9500's prices may go down over the summer, so I may get it then.  I am seeing if I can assemble a Performance PC for well under what my parents would buy a new one for.

I want that case.  Its got the window and the 3 color window fan.  Im gonna stick with that one.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Just wondering, does setting jumpers and stuff like that when setting up the motherboard hard?  Or will the motherboard's manual normally tell me where to set the jumpers for a normal system?

Almost every motherboard has documentation on how to set it up... unless you get a 10 dollar one from Mexico.  And if it doesn't come with documentation, just google the model # and you will find it.
