The periodic and frequent server crashes

I'm not complaining so much as just asking for the sake of curiosity...why does the server crash multiple times a day? It's almost like clockwork. Every 3 or 4 hours, the server resets, everyone drops, and I have to rejoin. Is it intentional? (such as getting rid of AFKers?) Or is it an intermittent connection issue where the server is located?
