Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

The reason is, they probably hosting the site on a residental-class DSL line that has like 128Kbps upload...

No, LOL that reminds me...

But anywho, just get their "deluxe" package with 256Kbps, can host a good game of 8 people usually. Only 10$ more a month on to the "standard" package charge.

Actually, the small independant ISPs that are generally out in the country have some of the best offerings when it comes to bandwidth services.  It's like living in Canada and you are testing your ISP's bandwidth with your DSL line...

DSL in Parsons is primarily just through the SBC office itself.  The 256kbit package is available here, but they refuse to upgrade anybody at this range.  We're like 18,000 feet out--new subscribers can't even be that far.

You need to understand that DSL has a range of only a few miles, and there's only one switching office in Parsons.  That and across the street is out of city limits on the north side.  =)

Yeah, when I was talking to the lady about upgrading my line, she was all checking to see if I was in range for their "premium" service and all.  All I said was I download at 160KB/sec and she was like, well, ok you should see the service ready within the week.  All week long I was waiting every morning with the speed test hoping my weak 128Kbps *think of it as 2 56k lines in a way* would JUMP to 256Kbps.
