Those are old drives.  Everything about 80GB and larger is wonderful.  You should steer clear of IBM's DeskStar drives though.  They've earned the nickname DeathStar

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Hmm ok thanks.  I just thought maybe I would go for Maxtor this round with their 80GB HD.  It will probably be a while 'till I get my next HD upgrade.  By then I will probably just move to SATA.  That 120GB WD SATA looks very appealing, and just maybe will earn my bucks.

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

I never need anything larger than 30-40 gb, since I reformat every 3 months.

Well, uh, let me explain.

If you are using the same computer you have used for more than two years, then normally one should notice that their computer does not run as fast as it did the day they bought it.

Reformatting completely erases the entire hard drive, removing all the useless crap from your computer.  I back up all my important stuff (HL, CS, WMP, divx, aim, etc) to disk, and format.  When done, I have a nice, clean slate to start off with.

Somehow I think 1 out of every 10 songs you warez has some kind of virus or lagger or something.

I know it is time to reformat if I click on start and it takes more than 1/2 a second to bring up the start menu.

I format about once every 6 months.. mainly because I tend to get unogranized..

As for the slowing down part..

I leave my computer on 24/7

If it slows down (which windows is known to do after 72 hours of running) I just restart and super speed ho!
