Sigs are fine.  I was talking about avatars.  Be considerate though!!!  A 250KB avatar or a sig that is 640x480 is just too large.  56k modem or 14" monitor users have problems with that sorta stuff.

I hate images in sigs. I remember back on the old TW forums, we used to have sig images, then we moved, and no longer had them anymore. I fought it for the longest time, saying bullmalarkey like "It gives us our own personal identity, and helps distinguish posts." But, I learned that images in signatures really gives off an amateur aura. It's a waste of bandwith, space, and it really doesn't show any creativity. Avatars, on the otherhand, I find necessary for forums.

Well, to be perfectly honest, we are amateurs.  If we wanted to stop that problem, I think effort would be better directed toward everybody's personality and user filtering first--before taking image sigs away.
