I never said that I was going to clear.
« Last Edit: December 31, 1969 06:00 pm CST by Particle »
As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Ok.. This is the part where I go all out and thow in my two cents..

In my opinion, if the players leave if they get cleared. It only shows that they are only on the server to fight people lower than them. Which is pritty much ALL the gods.

Here are my facts that prove it.. This thread being #1.. Just about everyone that posted that they wouldn't play anymore if the server is cleared, only come on to play on their overpowered characters, and use them to torment other people.

In reality.. It will be doing more good than harm.. We might actually be free from the problems that are around for a while.

If you are a true TRPG player, you wouldn't mind a clear at all if you knew it was for the good of the server, and that you would have more to do after the clear.

I have thought about a clear since the imports first came, and cloud became remort 100...

I am personally looking forward to a clear, even thought I have yet to make God.  I was really looking forward to it, but if there is a server clear, it will be for the better because you can finally level and not have to worry about bored 1000 level Gods roaming around looking to bash you because they have nothing better to do.

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

Yea, it would also help me as a questmaster alot, and here is why:

I find myself having to make 2 seperate quests everytime I do one because of the difference in levels.  There will be like 3 or 4 overgods, and then the rest are 100 or below..  it's really annoying to write a quest script and then have to go back and change it every time I do a quest.  If we did it this way, the game would be a LOT less easy, and the levels would be more even so people getting PKed could fight back.

And as UG said, the True RPG players will stay because they know what an RPG is all about:  developing your character and having some fun at the same time.

And razore, I already brought up the topic in the server a few times and most everyone agree'd with me.. except maybe a god or 2 that said they wouldn't play here if it cleared (both being level 1000 and known for PKing newbies and causing problems) so from my perspective, it would do the server a LOT more good than harm.

see, the entire god issue comes down to this:  if the gods are really that bored that they have to go around bashing people for fun, just lock the assholes inside tables and #fw asshole #remort and end it all for them, maybe they will learn.  apparently as more and more gods came about, they also became more and more rock-headed.

I'm a god and I'm all for it. It'll be fun to level again. It was boring but I wasn't one of the "go around bashing anyone and everyone" kinda gods. So please don't say ALL are bad. Thanks!

After all this time, I think things would be a lot better if things were cleared and no transfers accepted.  I would probably put in the alternative leveling system that requires more exp for each new level like every other RPG does.  It would become harder to get to level 100 and thus cut down on remorts.  I would of course add more zones if I did, so things wouldn't be quite as boring or crowded.

I've been tempted to make a download required... I've got the resources to host such a patch now, it's just getting newbies into the mix that would worry me.  I think I'll make a small sister server with a download required and see how things pan out.  If we still get newbies then more power to it and maybe make it that way on the main server.  Or, I could have two servers, one with no required download and one with.  Who knows.  It might work to just slap the download URL onto the loading screen.

Those are some of the best ideas I've heard in a long time.

And also, the ones who stay after the clear are most likely the hardcore players who are usually helpful, and not just out there to ruin other players fun.

[Edit] I voted yes.

yea, now lets look at some examples.  we got shorty, the guy that won't die.  we got bub, wish he would commit suicide. yep, all the helpful players stick around right?

His point is, the people that are here for an RPG and a community will stay. The people that just want strong characters will leave. It's simple.
