No you fool, only the 3dfx cards support Glide, anything else doesn't.  Run in opengl, if that doesn't work then update the drivers.

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

Also, most of the "newer cards" arent supported by Tribes until it is updated to the newest version.

Remote, you see the list that highlights when you select OpenGL?  The one that says "setup openGL for:"

Well, switch it to each one of those until you find the one that runs the fastest--thats a problem that a lot of people get when they first get a new card.

no, if u dont know what ur talkin about, please stop posting, i found the reason, and.. this isnt a "new card", its a geforce 2... why in the hell would that be new, the reason i found out because tribes uses glide, and on this old nvidia, it doesnt support it, but thats ok, next week ill have my comp fixed, and back with my radeon

Remote.. You don't know what you're talking about.

Tribes engine was built on a 3DFX game engine base..

It was designed for The Voodo series, because at the time, it was the best out.

GF and Raedon are OpenGL / Direct3D (If lack of OpenGL) cards.

For a GF 2, you need to set it on OpenGL TNT 2 settings to get best performance.

Vorter, you use Generic because Newer cards only support generic. Dynamix noticed the GF series, and made an update for OpenGL.

Tribes will allways look bad in OpenGL mode because the engine was built for Glide.

By bad I mean choppy textures, no rain, textures showing up where they shouldn't.

You are talking to techs who look off a book..

About a game that is 6 years old..

With a poorly made game engine..

Only people who know the engine will know what they are talking about.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

I meant that tribes recognizes any card after the TNT2 era as a "new card".
