The plan has always been to slipstream my custom files into the base RPG download and then make a seperate pack for those already having TRPG.  After custom models are received, I'll wait 1-3 months to allow for a buildup of newbs that possess the slipstreamed pack if I ever do anything with it.

I know.  I've seen servers all die out from custom prefabs.  The thing I was counting on was the fact that I host the primary download for TRPG.  I won't change the TRPG files at all, I'll just add extra support for my mod.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

I think you should also look into adding some new spells.  Make them Rl based that way there is something to look forward too (makes ppl play harder)  I think there are alot of good ideas floating around out there, it's just a matter of narrowing them down and choosing the best ones.

I still prefer Particle's aura idea.  If you could make a group of spells/auras that get stronger for you and your party as your rl grows, that would be an advantage.

Some Ideas:
1) aura that returns % of damage taken to attacker - (5% * RL) of damage taken is reflected back to the attacker.
2) increased damage aura - (2% * RL) damage boost. (melee and magic)
3) exp boost?? - (0.001%  RL) extra exp per kill??

i dunno, just some thoughts.

Ey!  No offense... but this is the thread about Particle offering a contest for Dis's and the like.

Off topic side note:
The aura idea has been done in past games quite effectively.  I suggested it back on the ooold TRPG forums (what?  5 forums a go?) and I was met with no response.  More maps may be more interesting to me.  Spawn points would need to change based on what level you were... or the zone you were last in, or your home/house (if that were implemented) to avoid the trouble of coordinate changes between maps and loading/saving.

or you could just set it up with a new variable "newLoad" = false/true;  if false, it loads the client at default arena exit, otherwise it loads from last coords.  just another idea....  you could always take the variable out later as well...

or howabout some (No Longer Used) spells?

Would these new things be kind of like skins? So we could replace them over the old stuff that we have, but you dont HAVE to have them to play?

If you could, make speech affect the spell casting. Kinda like a lore skill, so you can perfectly say the magic words and understand what they mean. High speech = High magic

I would just like to note to be very careful and think out all the consequences of putting custom prefabs/modes into a server.

It has been tried before, and it almost lead to the servers demise. What usually happens is your dedicated base sticks with you but you start to not get any more new players. Over time as your dedicated players start quitting or playing less than they used to, you will see the general server population fall.

The advantage I see you having is the fact that alot of people are using pcrpg.org to download rpg base. So you can probably easily slip it in that download or make a seperate one that is close at hand.

Anyway, just giving a warning from experience.

trident > particle

i'd agree more with trident... custom servers do die out alot. i mean check out what happened to oldworld and tvt.... they just gave up =/

Folks, it helps when most people download TRPG from you.  Everybody almost would already have support for my server.
