Sad day for IS

So long, and thanks for all the fish...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You know, once upon a time I thought this community was pretty fun. Then as time wore on things went down hill. I did my best to try and keep this place running, if not at the level of the Golden Age, at least at a level were things could get done.

Finally a couple of days ago I wrote why bother sticking around when it's not fun any more? Made me think a bit, and to be honest it hasnt been fun for me around here in a long time.

Ive gotten sick and tired of having to deal with the stupidity around here, and not getting any where, or anything out of it. (i.e. enjoyment, not talking monetary)

Ive thought about this awhile, not some random Tang moment, and yes, Im 100% sober.

So with this I say see ya. There have been some good times, and some cool peeps. Ive seen a couple people actually grow up from adolescent awkwardness helping them with girl problems, to grown up members of not only this community, but also the ones in RL. And not to sound to weirdo here, Im actually kinda proud that I gotta help out.

Anyways I havent decided if Ive grown too much for the TRPG community, or if its out grown me. What ever the case, in the end there is no reason for me to waste time with something that I dont enjoy.

Now for the fun, there have been things Ive wanted to say about people (yes I am going to flame here. Make sure you watch how its really done) that I couldnt say because of my various responsibilities down the years. (Well actually I have, but never in a ahh sober state of mind) Now I can.

Agnt.. Dude you need to get a forking clue and realize that just because you have half a forking brain doesnt mean you have to waste it on stupid comments. And hopefully your vocabulary will increase from being all four letter words to something a bit more respectful.

Steef and Toast You guy are actually somewhat cool, if you can forking forget that just because you have been around for awhile doesnt make you guys gods. Toast, your constant harassment of Kak was low man. And Steef you inability to be a leader around here pissed me off to no end. Through out the years you have had moderation power. But instead of using them to fix the problems you unsavory womaned about, you forking sat on you ass and unsavory womaned harder.

Quad Id have put your name with Steefs and Toasts but you have never been cool. Youve always been a little forking pessimist who thinks youre all badass cause you have your nose stuck so far up Toasts ass that you sneezing, and him malarkeyting comes out looking the same. Though the same goes for you to when I said that just because you have been here for awhile, doesnt make you Gods gift to the community. And dude you have to be just about the laziest mofo Ive ever seen.

Tri Man if you are going to lead Dev, then do it. I know you got the bossing part down, but ya also gotta get with the motivation program. I dont know how many times that Ive sat and talked with various dev members listened to them unsavory womaning. You have a good team, use them. And get rid of this damn JI thing you have going where you have to ask him about crap all the time. And dude, grow a pair when it comes to discipline.

And for the most of you, stop being forking leeches. When you are not weighing down the project (you do remember that the main reason these forums are here is for TRPG and IS right?) you are unsavory womaning about things not getting done. And of course cant forget the recent rash of flaming and general disrespect. You guys unsavory woman about things not being cool, or this person flaming, or what ever the unsavory woman of the week is. But you all gotta forking realize that its YOU who cause the damn problems. And you cant depend on a mod to clean up the messes that YOU made.

And for the finale I figured Id piss off everyone. They say that religious wars are always the worst, and what better way to get one going then to dis god himself?

JI granted man you will never read this, but o well. Dude if you are going to be a member of the Dev team, then do it. Stop doing this whole show up, say good/bad then leave. It undermines the Dev team.

I could go on, but I figured Id lose a couple of yas attention.

Now good things? A crap load of fun in the day. When people were excited about the latest release of TRPG, or getting huge threads on IS ideas. When everyone was helpful and pulling their own. When there was no need to have moderators, except only to sticky stuff. I guess the best way to say it is when everyone was positive and involved.

Also cant forget some damn good convos with peeps on IRC and such. Never thought Id consider people I only know on the I-net to be friends. And so the Shout Outs. Sorry you guys didnt get long and unique paragraphs. But I think ya all know what Id say.

So to you guys Wassup. Ugo, Sabs, Blitz, Cloud, Airyn (oops), Vec, Goldy, Matt, most of the current and past dev members (Goodie, LP, Hivo, Shalos, ect). And of course Tbone, Tri and Coca and most recently Daffy. I know Im missing a few peeps, sorry guys. And had some fun too (House of Pleasure comes to mind)

Anyways peeps, Im outta here.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Can you blame him? I quit going to those forums because the only things ever posted are people acting, or just being, morons. I miss the days when it was actually a community. We worked together, JI took input about the mod directly from us, people were a little more mature....

All good things must come to an end.

I miss the days before most children even knew how to access the internet.  It was a man's world and I loved the community--it was one of trust and cooperation.  Quake 1 rocked.  Cheats were unheard of.

Particle, I was one of the few kids who knew about it. I would get on AOL, and play my Quake online. I was pretty good... for a little 2nd grader.
The times have changed. The new age 2nd grades are whiny. They all cheat, and refuse to try and play the game like it was ment. As I said before.....
All good things must come to an end.

LoL crash, how young are you?  Also, you were able to play Quake over AOL?  Thats simply unheard of dude.  Playing Quake even by using Quake world is nearly unplayable with speeds below 256 kbps down.

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

LoL.  That means I played online before you ever did.  Gooooo Darwin!

I first began playing online with this program called MPlayer.  Ahhh, big red racing.  I still remember the sound you heard when choosing which course to race on:  THIS COURSE IS WET AND WILD, LIKE ME!  (spoken by a playboy bunny).

Bah, I was playing online before Red Alert.  I really liked the intro music that came after many Mplayer updates.  It played music from C&C series games.

When I first played Quake online (after spending like 5-6 hours downloading it off mplayer) I had a jumpstart kindergarten CD in the drive.  So when I first joined the game, it was playing this song about counting apples or soemthing.  I was laughing my ass off because I thought it was the game, but it was really just JS kindergarten.

Oh, and I couldnt move.  Internet was too slow.  All I could do was stand there and watch my character die every 10 seconds.

I just stayed with playing Checkers, Yarn, Big Red Racing, and Road Rash.  (heh, I always won at road rash... laggers always win that game).
