Protein Folding (do your part)
« on: June 22, 2004 03:25 pm CDT »
While on [H]ardOCP, I came across a project.  Clients are sent information, the client's computer processes the information, and it is sent back to a labratory, just like Seti@home!  This might help in finding cures for various diseases.  I'm leaving this running for a week on this computer, and it will run while I sleep on my own PC.

3% done after a few minutes, its a slow process.  Thats why they could use our help to speed up researcher's work.
I use the no-nonsense console, but you can use the screensaver if you like.

I dont think [H]ardOCP would do that.

It does have an impact on system resources, though.  CPU usage is at a constant 100%, but this is an entirely legit program.

I'm sure I'll churn out a bit with a 1.6 and a 3.2

If they could have this take use of multi-threading, I could double the productivity.

I'm fighting diseases.

You're looking for aliens that will give us diseases.

Im finding aliens that can cure the diseases that you cant.

Your creating a biological virus to kill the aliens that I find so that you can rule the galaxy.

Your finding another way to call the same disease AIDS.

Id rather find aliens than find another way to make a biological weapon.
This is EXACTLY what can be done with this.  Nothing like doing biological weapons research for the government.
